Woman asks her city council to respond to missing McRibs

A concerned resident stood up in front of her city council last week and urged them to bring the McRib back to Santa Clarita, California.

The pink-haired speaker, who has yet to be identified, took to the microphone to explain to her local legislators that her holidays were being ruined due to a policy change at McDonald’s.

“To be honest, the removal of the McRib from the menu has affected my family because every Thanksgiving my family would order a 50 piece chicken nugget meal and 10 McRibs, and now my family’s holiday spirits are messed up and broken,” she said. “I come to you with this matter.”

The McRib was introduced in 1982. The boneless pork BBQ sandwich was offered for a limited time in the fall, coinciding with Thanksgiving.

This year, as the girl explains, McDonald’s offered their franchisees a choice in whether to carry the McRib or not.

“Apparently only 55% of McDonald’s franchises nationwide have chosen to sell them,” said the McRib fan.

She goes on to explain the blasphemy that is all-day-breakfast taking the coveted McRibs spot on the special items menu at several McDonald’s locations in Santa Clarita, which she calls “a really poor substitute”.

This concerned speaker is not the only person looking for McRibs in Southern California.

According to her, people are using the McRib Locator to find out how far they will have to venture to acquire the elusive boneless pork product, making the almost five-hour drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

“The nearest sandwich was seen in the Bay Area.”

It seems as though city council is one of her last resorts in getting the McRib to Santa Clarita. During her closing remarks she told city council she was hoping they could step in because she was out of options.

“I tried calling the hotline,” she told the meekly. “And they don’t take me seriously.”
