Earlier this month, Ramsey told news reporters he heard screams from his neighbour's house on May 6, while he was eating a McDonald's meal. He ran over to discover Amanda Berry, a girl who had been missing for a decade. He called 911 and when police responded, they found three other missing women: Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight and a child, Berry's daughter.

Authorities have charged Ariel Castro with kidnap and rape in connection with the case.

Social media users and news outlets hailed Ramsey as a hero, even as they fixated on his mention of McDonald's, prompting a response from the fast food chain.

Before long, Hodges restaurant, where he worked as a dishwasher, had created a burger named in his honour, according to the Plain Dealer. But it didn't stop at burger immortality.

"We want to honor our local hero with local food," Scott Kuhn, a local restaurant owner, told the Plain Dealer.
