Coolest dad ever builds luge track for kids in the backyard

A dad in Long Island created a luge track for his kids in his backyard.

“And the award for Coolest Dad of the Year goes to … Jay Venini!”

What kid wouldn’t want to wake up to this fantastic homemade luge run in their backyard?

Venini built this track out of snow in his backyard in Northport, Long Island for his kids to have a little winter fun on. In this short homemade film, Venini captures the loads of laughter his kids are having as they take turns on the track. Whether you’re 5 or 50, you can’t deny that this looks like a heck of a lot of fun.

Packed with smiles and laughter, even when they fall off the track, these kids really have to hand it to their dad for this one. It will come as no surprise when they are soon the most popular kids on the block!

With inspiration from the recent Sochi Olympics, Venini Americanized his handcrafted luge track with American flags and he spray-painted “USA 2014” on the sides. Equipped with helmets and saucers, these kids take to the track and have an absolute blast.

He built the sides up to reduce the risk of one of these youngsters falling over the edge, and even when they do, their smiles remain. There’s nothing that can ruin this fun-filled day for these little lugers!

It’s great to see a father encourage and educate his young ones on the importance of the Olympic Games … especially when kids today are too often cooped up inside, glued to their Xbox or computer.

Venini built the luge track to accommodate kids approximately 12 and under, but that didn’t stop the adults from getting in a turn or two of their own. After all, we all want to be kids again sometimes too, so let the luging begin!

This might be taking backyard Olympic sports to a new level, but check out these little daredevils who decided they could practice their snowboarding stunts in the comfort of their own yard.

All you need is snow to build a sweet little ramp, right? I just hope they watch for cars!
