‘Dear Fat People’ comedian Nicole Arbour gets called out on ‘The View’

Toronto comedian Nicole Arbour was invited to ‘The View’ last Wednesday to talk about her now infamous video ‘Dear Fat People.’

The video went viral, getting more than 27 million views before being removed because it was flagged as offensive by many in the YouTube community. Commenters took to Twitter and made their own response videos as well.

Arbour tried to deflate the situation early on in her ‘View’ appearance, commenting on her hair in the video, but Whoopi Goldberg cut her off saying “You’re here, this is your shot.”

Arbour went on to say that she expected the backlash, though she takes it as unwarranted, claiming the content of the video is ‘satire’ and ‘silly.’

“I’m a comic, so if I’m going to do a joke about a fat person, I’m going to say I’m fat first,” said Joy Behar in response to Arbour. “You’re not fat, that’s the problem.”

Michelle Collins did not agree with Arbour. “I watch it and I’m like, ‘where is the satire?’ You’re like a skinny, blonde girl… Watching you say it, it’s like borderline bullying.”

Arbour spent the majority of the video defending herself, using jokes which landed flat on both the hosts and audience.

She continuously maintained that if she was a male she would not be getting the same negative treatment, telling ‘The View’ male comics in movies say the same stuff without backlash.
