DreamWorks dad animates home videos, turning son into superhero

Life for 3-year-old James Hashimoto appears more interesting than that of most children, as he jumps through lava, gets lost in small puddles, and shoots explosives from his fingertips.

How does he do it all? Well, this small superhero has the coolest dad ever.

Daniel Hashimoto, James’s dad and animator for DreamWorks, uses his skills to add a little something extra to James’s home videos, as the Huffington Post discovered.

After filming James do everyday toddler things, Daniel then adds in a little magic to these video during the editing process.

Daniel has even created a YouTube channel showcasing James as the “Action Movie Kid”, posting all of his creative videos of the little superhero.

The short clips, edited around mundane things that James does during the day, will make you smile, even if they’re not real.

The imagination of his child is brought to life as Daniel, using his animation skills, creates a world we could only imagine in our dreams. A play structure becomes a spaceship blasting off to outer space, a toy lightsaber causes actual destruction in Toys "R" Us, and the infamous ‘lava game’ we all used to play as kids becomes the real deal.

We all need a little imagination in our lives to remember that it’s okay to be a kid again. Using the animation technology, Daniel has created a way for James to relive his childhood fantasies long after his childhood days of dodging lava and blasting to the moon are over.

Coolest. Dad. Ever.
