Yoga, which is often credited for helping obtain peace of mind, was a part of the reason why this one passenger lost his.

When Hyongtae Pae was told to stay seated an hour and a half into the nearly nine hour flight from Honolulu to Tokyo, he didn’t take it too well.

Pae, 72, didn’t want to sit in his seat during the meal service so he went to the back of the plane to practice his yoga and meditate, reports The Star.

When his wife and several of the flight crew his to return to his seat, he got angry.

“Pae pushed his wife because she was trying to make him stop,” the complaint said. “He felt like she was siding with the flight crew.”

Other passengers, including five U.S. Marines, were asked to help restrain the man, who was now yelling angrily in Korean.

During their attempt restrain Pae, he threatened to kill one of the people helping out and tried to head-butt and bite one of the Marines, reports Fox-43.

All of the commotion caused the plane to return to Honolulu, where Pae was put on suicide watch at the Honolulu Federal Detention Centre.

A judge ordered for him to be released on a $25,000 bond, but with certain restrictions: first, that he doesn’t leave the island of Oahu, and second, that he undergo a mental health evaluation.

Pae’s defense attorney said his client is a 72-year-old retired farmer from South Korea who traveled all the way to Hawaii to celebrate his 40th anniversary with his wife, reports The Star.

Pae, who took up yoga recently to help with his anxiety, told the FBI that he was sleep deprived, having not slept in 11 days.
