Happy Palindrome Week!

Happy Palindrome Week!

Hey everyone! It's Palindrome week!

If you’re wondering what the heck that means, you’re not alone.

It means — particularly for all you number nerds out there — that every day this week will read the same date forward as well as backward!

Pretty cool, huh?

The word “palindrome” is actually a literary device that most often applies to words. It simply means that it is something can read the same both forward and backward. For example, “Mom” and “Dad” are both palindromes, but in the world of palindromes, numbers can be palindromic, too.

Just look at your calendar and read this weeks dates in standard dateline format (month, day, year). Now, read them all backwards. Mind. Blown.

Palindrome week started last Saturday and will continue until this Saturday, each date in between with the reversible dateline.

Astro-numerologist Lloyd Strayhorn is very excited. “This is a phenomenal date,” he told CBC. He noted that for 10 consecutive days in April you could add up the digits individually of that date and the sum will still equal the number of that precise day. For example, on April 16: The dateline 4/16/14 would be 4+1+6+1+4 =16. Crazy!

“It’s the only month every 100 years that does that,” Lloyd said.

Many around the Internet are tweeting today about their minds being blown over palindrome week. Many, whose names are in fact palindromes, believe this should be their week! Some of the tweets are just hysterical … like the taco cat. If the palindrome taco cat doesn’t brighten your day, nothing will. Happy Palindrome Week!
