Liona Boyd to premiere new song all about Toronto

Liona Boyd sings during her video for The Toronto Song

Canada's first lady of the classical guitar has a new song out and it's all about Toronto. Liona Boyd recorded The Toronto Song to show off the whole city and her favourite things about it.

Even though the song sounds like it was recorded in the 1970s, it is actually new and incredibly cheesy especially when people start yelling neighbourhoods and sports teams. Most of the time they show exactly what she Boyd is singing about, but it definitely isn't the Beach boardwalk or High Park when she sings those lines. We also wonder how the guy at 1:10 enjoys being shown on his boat with his shirt off as she sings about catching a ferry to the Island. We're not sure if this will help or hurt Toronto's reputation, but it is catchy.

For those of you thinking, 'don't we already have a Toronto Song', we do. The song by the Canadian comedy group Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie is about all the things they hate about Toronto and everything else in Canada for that matter.

Liona Boyd's The Toronto Song will premiere tonight at 8:15 at Pilaros Taste of the Danforth. She is also releasing a new album next month with 15 songs inspired by Canada.
