Skyscraper in Manchester 'howls' during high winds

Every time Manchester’s city centre is hit with strong winds, a bizarre sound is heard coming from one high-rise apartment block.

The city’s Beetham Tower in U.K. was built in 2005 and it has since become famous for its “humming” sound that it makes during windy days, Metro reports.

A video was recently uploaded on YouTube following the blustery weather in the city on Sunday, showing the extent of its sound.

A design flaw apparently causes the noise.

The building’s glass blade are to blame for the eerie sound, Metro reports. On many occasions, engineers have scaled the 47-floor tower and tried to correct the problem.

Back in 2012, the architect, Ian Simpson, even apologized for the building’s sound.

“I am completely aware of the noise because I live at the top of the building,” Simpson told Manchester Evening News. “At the end of the day it’s not supposed to make noise. We have got to address it because it’s causing distress.”

After three years, the building cannot be silenced.
