Reckless teen posts “Me Driving Like an Idiot” video and gets himself caught by police

Tip: If you’re going to drive like a complete idiot and film it on your dash cam, make sure you accidentally turn yourself in afterward.

That’s pretty much what reckless teenager Robert Kelley, 18, did after he decided to joy ride around New Smyra Beach, Florida, crashing into four vehicles and injuring 5 people.

Since he was apparently foolish enough to upload his little dash cam video to YouTube, police have caught him.

Kelley faces charges of reckless driving and driving without a license. Police are even considering laying down a third charge of intentional battery with a vehicle.

In the video, Kelley is excessively speeding while swerving in and out of lanes on State Road 44. For almost four minutes, Kelley is gunning it through traffic while listening to techno music, paying no mind to every car he almost hits. His luck runs out when he completely rear-ends a vehicle in front of him, putting an immediate stop to his joyride.

According to police that didn’t stop him, however. Moments later, Kelley is back at it, and causes a second crash involving three other vehicles.

Sharnelle Pigg and her nephew were in one of the vehicles hit by Kelley, and her newborn baby boy was supposed to be in the car with them that day. “It was by the grace of God that he wasn’t in that vehicle,” she said, thankful.

Kelley had to be airlifted to hospital after the pile up he caused on Tuesday. According to Gawker, his “Me Driving Like an Idiot” video was uploaded from his hospital bed. Clearly, he couldn't wait to show the world how stupid he could be.

Police certainly appreciated the free evidence as Kelley was arrested shortly after.

The video has been removed from YouTube and Kelley has refused to comment.
