“Dumb question - How long does a baseball game last?????”

A photo captured during the second inning of a baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees has fans on the internet divided.

Reddit user PassTheSyrup uploaded a picture of a woman on her smartphone during a game at the Roger’s Centre reading about how long she is expected to sit in the stands.

It sparked an online conversation in the comments section about the lack of knowledge most sports “fans” have about the game they are watching.

“It’s embarrassing, one guy said that the blue Jay’s were “gonna win the cup” last season,” wrote lewj21.

The conflict between real fans and band wagoners was the biggest issue among peeved posters.

One Reddit user commented that “the bandwagon portion is insufferable”.

“At least she’s at the game giving money to the Jays and making an effort. I don’t see why people hate on band wagoners so much. How would teams survive without them? Baseball fans are so snobby,” retorted mang82.

The average length of a baseball game got shorter after some rule changes were enacted, falling to 2 hour 52 minutes in 2015 from 3 hours 1 minute during the 2014 season.

For a baseball newbie, that eight minutes will not be missed.

And thankfully for this spectator the game didn’t go into extra innings.
