Starbucks Drake Hands meme emerges from barista’s video

An inadvisable romantic gesture has led to a viral trend that's as baffling as it is funny. They call it Starbucks Drake Hands.

Los Angeles-based model Piper Kennedy walked into a Starbucks last week to order a coffee, and when the barista, Brody Odag Ryan, asked for her phone number, she gave it to him, according to the Telegraph. Not long afterward, Kennedy received this video from her admirer, in which he gazes into the camera as Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home," plays in the background, then touches his face.

Kennedy sent it to a friend, who posted it online, and since it wasn't awkward enough the first time they saw it, everyone decided the world needed many, many more videos exactly like it, in a meme explosion reminiscent of the Harlem Shake.

Cats, superheroes, and villains alike have adopted the horribly named Starbucks Drake Hands trend, not to mention someone disguised as a Starbucks cup. Compilation videos have already emerged to document the weirdest and silliest parodies.

The original man behind the meme hasn't complained about the mockery, at least online, and he event tweeted the video from his own account.

Another mysterious trend for another 15 minutes of viral fame.
