"The Revenant” meets Bob Ross’ "The Joy of Painting” in funny, frightening spoof

“The Revenant” has been cleaning up at award shows like the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs. In the wake of its success, plenty of clips spoofing the Oscar-nominated film have gone viral.

But the latest is as bizarre and terrifying as it is creative and funny.

If you grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s, you might remember the name Bob Ross, or at least his show, “The Joy of Painting.” In it, Ross would frequently walk his audience through some breathtaking oil-painted landscapes.

The Above Average YouTube channel has created a parody of the trailer for “The Revenant” that includes Ross.

In it, Ross’ creation of a “picturesque mountain landscape” is interrupted by some “trappers” walking through his artwork. The clip goes on to embed Ross in footage from the film, and even sees him react with fear to several traumatizing incidents, including that infamous bear attack.

The video has even garnered the attention of the folks behind “The Joy of Painting.”

"And that’s why ‘The Joy of Painting’ was filmed inside a safe little studio,” the official account chirped in the clip’s YouTube comments.

The thing is, ‘90s kids know a Ross/Mr. Rogers tag team could have easily taken on that bear. Sorry, Leo.
