Weatherman draws forecast after technological malfunction

A resourceful weatherman facing a technological breakdown recently found an artistic solution — he drew his weather report using coloured markers.

Come rain, shine or a computer malfunction, one meteorologist knew the forecast had to go on, according to the ABC News show the Mix. Using purple, red and black markers, he wrote out the weather predictions for Casper, WY complete with sunshine doodles and a drawing of the day.

He isn't the first weather forecaster to improvise in a pinch. Andrew Kozak, a meteorologist for the ABC affiliate in Tulsa, Okla., drew a map of the state and scribbled out the eight-day forecast in orange, yellow and blue after his graphics stopped working before a broadcast in January, according to ABC News.

Kozak said he began to create graphics at 4 a.m. for his live segment but the images turned out blank. So it was markers and sunshine drawings for him, too, until the computers began to work again about an hour and a half later.

Kozak told ABC he thought his drawings would land him in trouble with the bosses, but instead the story went viral.
