Bus driver pulls over to console crying girl at the side of the road

Last Friday, a bus passenger in southern Sweden snapped a sweet photo of her "good-hearted" bus driver consoling a young girl.

Emma Gustafsson uploaded the photo to Twitter, where it went viral.

According to a translation of the Expressen newspaper, bus driver Andre Grandin pulled over when he spotted 10-year-old Emilia Behrendtz crying at the side of the road.

He got off the bus, spent a few minutes comforting the girl, then returned to the bus "without a word" and continued his route, BBC News reported.

"It came from nowhere," said passenger Emma Gustafsson of the moment when the bus stopped. "We didn't know what was going on. But then we saw that he walked up to a crying girl sitting on the road. It was really cute."

The Swedish press were able to track down Grandin — he was reunited with Emilia for a photo op — who said that he didn't believe his actions were out of the ordinary. It's in his nature to help people in distress.

Grandin told reporters that since being identified in the viral photo, strangers have sent flowers to his home to thank him for his kind deed.

In June of 2012, Boston transit workers also went above and beyond for a child. They stopped a train during rush hour to save an inconsolable 3-year-old girl's stuffed bunny, which had fallen onto the tracks.
