Quadriplegic Greg Moore from Kitchener, Ontario completes epic road trip, finds love

When Greg Moore was 18, he broke his spine in five places in a motorcycle accident. He was left quadriplegic.

Now 43, Moore is a happy newlywed, thanks to his adventurous spirit and a Kijiji ad.

Last fall, Kitchener-based Moore embarked on a two-month trek to Los Angeles "via back roads and every kitschy pit stop" possible. To make the trip, he needed a companion or two who could drive his customized van and help him with her personal care.

To find his road-trip companion — he offered to compensate anyone willing to drive across North America for two months with him — he posted an ad on Kijiji: "Do you have the road trip gene?"

Thousands read his entertaining ad, and Moore received more than 20 firm offers.

Among the thousands interested were Brampton sisters Amy and Keri Cameron. Amy, a teacher, joined Moore on his journey, along with another man from Kitchener. Keri, a PhD student, couldn't make it.

Moore chronicled the adventure on his blog, Rolling Journey.

When Moore and his entourage reached their California destination, Keri flew out west to meet them. Sparks flew. Keri then joined the group on a road trip to Florida. And a few weeks later, back in Kitchener, Keri and Moore went on their first date.

"We both have huge ambition about changing the world as far as accessibility and equality, and we want to do big things with our lives," Moore said of their common ground.

On that first date, Moore told Keri he loved her. She said it back the following day.

Moore proposed on June 7th.

"I was very happy," Moore told the Toronto Star. "I might have cried a little."

On Saturday, the happy couple wed in Moore's Kitchener backyard, surrounded by 24 of their loved ones. Amy was the maid of honour.

After the "perfect" ceremony, a "Just Married" sign was hung from Moore's wheelchair.

"I knew in my heart something big would come of the trip," Moore told the Toronto Star. "I just had no idea that it would be to fall in love and get married. I didn't see that coming at all."
