Soldier surprises daughter at pumpkin patch

Girl surprised by father's return

A little girl visiting a pumpkin patch in North Carolina recently got the surprise of a lifetime.

As she posed for a photo with pumpkins, her father, a soldier who had been serving in Afghanistan for the previous 10 months and is stationed in Fort Bragg, snuck up behind her and shouted, “Pumpkin Day!”

She had no idea he had come home.

“Daddy!”

Mom Meg Kaplan captured their moving reunion on camera.

“Why are you crying?”

“Because I missed Daddy.”

Through her tears, she admitted that it was a good surprise — and then started questioning how he pulled it off.

Last summer, a soldier who had returned from Afghanistan a month early surprised his family — by dressing up as a hot dog.

And an Air Force physician, home three weeks before his scheduled return, surprised his family by rising from the water at a local beach.
