‘You’re our superhero:’ Under Armour gifts young dog-attack survivor with new hero gear

On March 31, 4-year-old Jasper Poole was brutally attacked by a relative's dog.

The young Georgia boy required 300 stitches in his left leg and two surgeries. Because of a severed calf muscle, he is now relearning to walk with a custom boot.

Remarkably, Jasper's parents report that he is in good spirits.

During one long night at the hospital, Jasper's mother, Lezlie Poole, decided to write to Under Armour, the brand of shirt Jasper was wearing at the time of the attack.

"When my son was mauled he was wearing his favourite red Under Armour tee shirt," Jasper's father, Nigel Poole, wrote on Imgur. "He had always told us that was his superhero shirt. Though he was dragged by his leg his shirt showed no signs of damage. My wife contacted Under Armour and told them his story and how well the shirt held up. This evening after work we had a package on our doorstep."

Under Armour responded with an awesome care package for the little superhero. They sent Jasper four T-shirts — three of them hero-themed — two pairs of shorts and a new backpack.

With the generous gifts was a note:

"Hi, Jasper! Your mom emailed all of here at Under Armour to let us know how brave you have been during your recovery. She mentioned that you are a big fan of superheroes and we just wanted you to know that you are our superhero! I picked out some gear for you to wear proudly (I heard Batman was a favourite!) Rest up and stay positive and just know that all of us here are behind you, wishing you a speedy recovery."

The Poole family is raising funds to cover Jasper's medical expenses here.

"All we have asked for is prayers and positive vibes, and our community has done that and more. For that Lezlie and I are truly grateful," Nigel wrote.
