For a new mom, travelling solo with an infant can be a stressful experience, but a stranger’s act of kindness made this young mother’s trip so much more bearable.

Rebekka Garvison was traveling last week with her newborn daughter, Rylee, to surprise her husband.

ˆThe Huffington Post reports that they were leaving Kalamazoo, Michigan, to visit Fort Rucker, Alabama, where Nick Garvison was working for the U.S. Army.

Garvison revealed in a Facebook post that she was nervous about flying alone with Rylee.

She boarded her early morning flight and immediately noticed that the couple next to her seemed unhappy about sitting next to a mother and baby.

Things only got a little more stressful when Rylee started to cry before the plane even took off.

“I decided to ask the other flight attendant if I could move up two rows where there were two empty seats next to each other and I’d have more room to do stuff,” Garvison wrote.

Garvison changed seats and ended up sitting next to a woman, Nyfesha Miller, who offered to comfort her crying baby.

“I’m not sure if she could tell how stressed and upset I looked or what, but she turned our day completely around,” the mother wrote.

Rylee stopped crying as Miller held her for the entire flight. At one point, the two ended up falling asleep.

“It brought tears to my eyes while I sat there and watched you and Rylee sleeping next to me,” Gravison wrote.

Garvison thanks Miller at the end of her post for her kind gesture.

The Facebook post along with the photo of Miller and Rylee sleeping together has since been shared more than 80,000 times.

“I’m almost at a loss for words by all this,” Miller commented. “I’m absolutely blown away by the amazing response this had received. Just comes to show you how little acts of kindness really do go a long way.”
