Katy Perry surprises Toronto fans at screening of ‘Part of Me’

It's usually not hard to miss Katy Perry, even in a crowd of fellow pop stars and and celebs. For example, at last night's Much Music Video Awards, she was eye-catching as a witch/superhero hybrid on the red carpet and a nude butterfly on the stage.

But last week, Perry proved she can still be stealthy when she wants to be. At a packed Toronto screening of her upcoming 3D concert movie/documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me," she surprised her fans by grabbing a pair of 3D glasses and joining them for the flick.

It's hard to believe that anyone in the audience could focus on the actual movie once Perry made the rounds, took photos, found her seat, and said "Let's start the film!" But it's all part of a larger promotion Perry is working on for the movie (which opens July 5). "Katy Perry: Part of Me" is supposed to give fans an inside look at the woman behind the glitter and hair dye. So, why not take the extra step and watch it with them?

Toronto was an obvious choice for such an unannounced visit, as Perry clearly has her fans across Canada. Shortly after her live performance of "Wide Awake" at Sunday's MMVAs, she won the award for UR Fave International Artist or Group. In fact, she was one of three big winners of the night, alongside Canada's own Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen. Her movie fans, too, seemed to appreciate her appearance -- you could say it was a "Teenage Dream" come true.
