Michael J. Fox gets stamp of approval from Canada Post

Michael J. Fox has officially gained Canada's stamp of approval.

The Canada Post has announced the 50-year-old "Back to the Future" star will join three other Canadian activists, including Man in Motion Rick Hansen, as the face of its Difference Makers stamp series.

"Examples like the four exceptional Canadians recognized in this stamp series showcase the diversity of ways we can contribute in making our communities and country even better than it is," said Jim Phillips, director of stamp services for Canada Post.

Fox, who established the non-profit Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, is not the first Canadian actor to have his face grace our mail.

That honour went in 2006 to comedian John Candy, "King Kong" damsel in distress Fay Wray, "America's Sweetheart" actress Mary Pickford, and "Bonanza" star Lorne Green as part of the Canadians in Hollywood series.

Since then, other Canadian icons such as Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot have also been immortalised in stamp form.
