Can you guess who this pigtailed toddler is?

It seems that old, long-forgotten photos from childhood always resurface during the holidays -- not only for us regular folk, but for celebrities too! And one amazing A-lister shared one of her childhood pics on Instagram this week.

This star is nearly unrecognizable with her hair tied in bushy pigtails, with two white bows rivaling the size of her head. But the serious facial expression and perfectly poised finger on her chin gives us a glimpse into her future profession.

Along with the photo, this 37-year-old model-turned-actress wrote "Awww! Found this old baby pic if me from Russia in the 70's! So depressing n communist! Too cute!" However, she was actually raised in Kiev, Ukraine by a pediatrician father and a stage actress mother, and moved to California at the age of five. By 12, she quit school to focus on modelling, her face was first seen around the world in Revlon's "Most Unforgettable Women in the World" campaign at the age of 17. Since then, she has booked gigs with Christian Dior, and Versace, Banana Republic, Gap, and Donna Karan and even became an international spokesperson for L'Oréal cosmetics.

So, who is this pigtailed cutie?

It's none other than "Resident Evil" action babe Milla Jovovich! The actress shared this old photo on Instagram on Christmas Eve, as she cooked and prepped for a party in her home. The vintage photo from decades ago even bears a striking resemblance to her five-year-old daughter, Ever Gabo Anderson.

After striking it big in modelling, Jovovich successfully crossed over into film, in particular, action movies. She first rocked both Bruce Willis and an orange wig in 1997 with "The Fifth Element" and has survived five "Resident Evil" zombie battles. However, her most loyal fans will always know her as Michelle in 1995's "Dazed and Confused."

But Jovovich's status as a Hollywood sex symbol is perhaps more notable than even her filmography, having made many lists documenting Hollywood's sexiest starlets. Throughout her career, she has romanced the likes of former Jamiroquai bassist Stuart Zender, photographer Mario Sorrenti, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, and "Dazed and Confused" costar Shawn Andrews (to whom she was married for two months at the age of 16). In addition to Andrews, she was married to "The Fifth Element" director Luc Besson from 1997 to 1999, and has been married to her current husband, "Resident Evil" director Paul W. S. Anderson, since 2009.

It always helps to be reminded that even tiny, pig-tailed tots like this can grow up to be "the reigning queen of kick-butt," and it doesn't even take a Christmas miracle.
