Bo Derek marries 'Sex And The City' star John Corbett after 20 years together

Sex And The City star John Corbett has announced he’s married Bo Derek after 20 years together.

The actor, best known for playing Aidan Shaw in the New York-set show, secretly wed Bolero actor Derek back in December, he confirmed in a new interview on US chat show The Talk.

Speaking to host Jerry O’Connell, Corbett, 60, announced: “Jerry, I can't believe I forgot to tell you that around Christmas time we got married. Bo and I got married!”

Showing his gold wedding ring to the camera as he spoke via videolink, Corbett continued: “We're pretty private people, we didn't make an announcement.

"All our friends and family knew, but this is the first time either one of us has said anything publicly about it because, really, we haven't had an opportunity.

"So, you're my buddy and now I guess I'm telling all of America or the world."

The couple, who met in 2002 through Hollywood agent Norby Walters, made the decision so as to “have something good come out of 2020” given the struggle of the pandemic.

"After 20 years we decided to get married, we didn't want 2020 to be that thing that everybody looks back at and hated," he said.

"We thought, 'Well, let's get one nice thing out of it.'"

The union is Corbett’s first marriage, and 10 star Derek’s second, and neither have children. She was previously married to director John Derek from 1976 to 1998.

Derek — real name Mary Cathleen Collins — has previously said that she felt the busy Hollywood lifestyle wasn’t the ideal place to raise children.

“I thought about it at one time, but my life was so unconventional,” she told Variety. “I think kids deserve at least a chance to have two parents that are committed, but my life was so crazy.”

She added: “There were times I wouldn’t have a dog because my life was so crazy, let alone a child.”

The news comes as it was announced that Corbett is set to return to the character of Aidan for the Sex And The City spinoff series …And Just Like That.

The new series stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis and is currently filming in New York.
