Are Boom Supersonic’s ultra-fast net-zero jets the future of air travel?

Boom Supersonic has struck a deal with United Airlines to sell the carrier an initial order of 15 ultra-fast jets capable of flying between New York and London in just over three hours.

The futuristic-looking planes, which have yet to be constructed, are expected to run on a sustainable jet fuel that produces zero emissions. United intends to become carbon neutral by 2050.

Tom Rand, managing partner at ArcTern Ventures, told Yahoo Finance Canada that the aviation sector presents a big opportunity for green disruption. However, he expects those advances will be hard won through new technologies.
