Brampton high school teacher facing more sexual assault charges

A Brampton high school teacher who was charged earlier this month for allegedly sexually exploiting a student now faces two more sex-related charges after a former pupil went to police.

Richard Knill, 57, a teacher at Turner Fenton Secondary School, has been charged with an additional count of sexual exploitation and one count of sexual assault, according to Peel police.

The additional charges were laid after a former student of Bramalea Secondary School contacted police upon hearing of Knill's initial arrest.

Upon investigation, Knill was arrested and charged on June 26, but released on a promise to appear at a Brampton courthouse on July 31.

Const. Bally Saini, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, said that Knill has a decades-long history in the Peel public school system.

"Richard Knill has taught at several schools in Brampton," Saini said. "He taught at Meadowvale Secondary School from 1991 to 1993, Bramalea Secondary School from 1993 to 2002, Chinguacousy Secondary School from 2002 to 2004, and Turner Fenton Secondary School from 2004 to currently."

Saini said the investigation is ongoing and she encourages anyone who may have relevant information to contact Peel police special victims unit at 905-453-2121, extenstion 3460.
