Bridgerton's Adjoa Andoh has revealed she was very impressed by her character's love interest in spin-off show Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

The Netflix prequel series fills in the backstory of Andoh's character Lady Danbury (and other characters from Bridgerton), including a romance with Lord Ledger (Keir Charles).

Speaking to Digital Spy recently, Adjoa said she definitely approved of the casting for the young Lady Danbury's (Arsema Thomas) lover.

"When I met the actor, Keir [Charles] who played [Lord Ledger] back in the day, we would be on the same set," she said.

"They would be doing a flashback early scene and then I'd be coming to do a present-day scene. The first time I met Keir, he's so handsome in the flesh. He's so handsome. I was a bit like...hi?! I just loved him. He was lovely. I think for viewers who watched that and go on and watch season three, they'll be watching with that added juice from Queen Charlotte."

The actor is back in the later timeline for the third season of Bridgerton and also leads the Alibi crime drama The Red King.

In the new crime drama, Adjoa plays a member of the nobility at the centre of an unsolved murder case that carries dark secrets about her community on a remote island near Wales.

Adjoa joked with us about the biggest differences between playing Lady Danbury in the Regency period and a member of the modern aristocracy in The Red King.

"No corsetry, no wig," she quipped. "So happy I can't tell you. Comfortable filming – I'd forgotten what that was like. That was a lovely thing."
