Brittany Cartwright is setting the record straight after rumors began to swirl about marital issues between her and husband Jax Taylor.

On the latest episode of the couple’s podcast When Reality Hits, the Vanderpump Rules alum, 35, shared that she wanted to “address some rumors” after the pair’s social media activity sparked speculation of a split.

“I’m not going to go too hard on this because, you know, some people do deserve to have their privacy. But I will say — marriage is hard and people go through ups and downs all the time and it’s completely normal,” Cartwright shared. “Sometimes people might need their space [and] sometimes they won’t.”

The reality star then noted that there have been new developments in her marriage to Taylor, 44, following the filming of the upcoming Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley. The Bravo series is also set to feature fellow VPR alum Kristen Doute as well as newcomers Luke Broderick, Danny Booko, Nia Booko, Jesse Lally, Michelle Lally, Jason Caperna and Janet Caperna.

“I just want to make one thing clear and that is that my life is not a publicity stunt for anything. We filmed The Valley months ago — months and months and months ago,” Cartwright explained. “And we’re super excited for this to come out and there’s been so many changes that has happened in so every single couple’s lives — every single couple on the show. I just want to make that very clear: no publicity stunts here.”

Cartwright’s comments come after her husband defended their relationship amid documenting their separate travels on social media. Taylor made his way to Detroit while Cartwright spent time in Montreal, Canada.

Last week, Taylor shared a photo of himself smiling on Instagram with the caption, “I can’t say enough about the city of Montreal. the food, the people, the hospitality. every place I have gone has been amazing. I can’t wait to come back here.”

In the comment section, a fan asked, “Is him an [sic] Brittany not together anymore?” and he was responded, “Why would you say that,, i can’t take a trip with out [sic] my wife for work…🙄”

Another fan wrote, “I hope you and Brittany is [sic] still together. ❤️❤️😂” and he replied, “of course stop reading BS.”

Taylor and Cartwright first met at a Las Vegas bar in 2015. After they briefly split in 2017, the pair reconciled off camera and later announced their engagement in June 2018. A year later in June 2019, they wed at the Kentucky Castle in front of 240 guests. They later welcomed their only son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, in April 2021, months after they announced their departure from VPR.

The duo have been candid about going through ups and downs in their relationship over the years. Taylor told PEOPLE in 2017, after revealing he cheated on his then-girlfriend, that they had "weathered the storm" in that chapter of their relationship and they they ended up "in a great place" afterward.

Taylor and Cartwright later opened up about their marriage in March 2023, when Cartwright told PEOPLE that they were "trucking through" it, despite outsiders thinking they'd only be together "for one year."

Taylor added that both the "good days" and "bad days" made their relationship stronger. "I don't believe in divorce. My parents didn't get divorced," Taylor said last year. "I don't believe in that. Marriage is work. I'm not saying every day is amazing."
