Brittany Snow is getting candid about her divorce with ex-husband Tyler Stanaland and overlooking warning signs in relationships.

The actress, 38, appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast to promote her movie Parachute, which she wrote and directed. At one point in the conversation, Snow was asked about her split with the Selling the OC star, 34.

"I was not aware of a lot of things," said Snow.

Snow and Stanaland married in March 2020 and separated on Sept. 14, 2022. They finalized their divorce the following June. The pair experienced marriage troubles after he revealed one of his Selling the OC costars attempted to kiss him off-camera.

PEOPLE reached out to Stanaland's rep for comment about Snow's interview, but did not immediately receive a response.

On the podcast, Snow said the "saddest part" about the situation is that, despite feeling she has a "good sense of character," she didn't listen to herself. "I had instincts," she said, "and I think because I was in love, I didn't trust them."

Later, she said, "I did not know what was going on. I think as someone who is so hands-on with my career, I think I was just completely shocked that I didn't have a handle on reality in that way. That was shocking."

However, "there's a lot of grace that I give myself, and also I can own— there's a part of this that I don't have a part in: They messed up. But I tried very hard to see it all from every side and release that anger. Because it doesn't serve me."

Snow, who revealed that she watched the season of Selling the OC in which the drama involving Stanaland played out, said the situation is more layered than it seems.

"There was love there. There was a marriage there. There was so much love. And I think that that gray is hard to understand because it's much more salacious and interesting that 'he did this, and she did this.' "

The Pitch Perfect actress added, "I think a lot of people go into relationships where someone hurts them, but I don't regret it. I don't regret anything that happened because I loved that time that we had when we had it."

In September 2023, real estate agent Stanaland told PEOPLE about learning and growing after the breakup.

“It's one of those things where time heals all wounds and you see me as I'm going through it and picking up the pieces and finding my feet again,” he said. “But luckily I had great people around me and dove into work. I think I'm still healing, in certain ways, from it, but I keep saying divorce doesn't have to be a bad thing. You learn and grow from it.”

When the pair announced their separation, they said in a statement that the "decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another. We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives."
