Builder Jailed for Killing Client in Dispute Over Extension

A builder who killed his client using a hammer in a row over her new extension was jailed for at least 15 years for murder on January 31, police said.

Peter Norgrove was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court for killing Sharon Gordon in July last year.

Police said the pair had argued over the work carried out by Norgrove on an extension to Gordon’s home, which they said had proved “problematic and was taking many months to complete.”

Norgrove had been recommended to Gordon by a friend at the church they both attended.

Police said Norgrove had said Gordon was working upstairs on the day of her murder in his witness statement. However, through extensive CCTV enquiries the police were able to trace his movements to a relative’s address where blood-stained items were found in a wheelie bin.

Norgrove was also seen to be “behaving in a manner that suggested his involvement in her death” on camera footage recorded at Gordon’s property. Credit: West Midlands Police via Storyful
