A bungling burglar has been caught after he got stuck in a bathroom window.

Sean Crawshaw was arrested after as he tried to break into a house Bury, Greater Manchester, but got stuck some 15 feet in the air.

The 47-year-old has now been jailed for two years and five months after pleading guilty to a charge of burglary with intent to steal.

He was discovered by the homeowner, in her 60s, as she returned from a shopping trip.

She called the police and officers, aided by a fire crew, removed Crawshaw and promptly took him to a local station.

The incident happened in December.

“He was actually cautioned as he was in mid-air,” Sgt Richard Garland of Greater Manchester Police told the BBC, adding: “It was nice of him to hang around.

“We did all have a chuckle about it later but the homeowner was actually pretty shaken up about it all.

“It’s not nice having someone burgle your home and then finding them still there.”

Crawshaw hurt his ear in the raid.
