‘Robust’ GDP growth in early 2024 puts Bank of Canada in tough spot

The Canadian economy is outperforming expectations to start the year, according to Statistics Canada data. The agency reports that real gross domestic product (GDP) in the first month of 2024 rose 0.6 per cent from December, beating most economists’ expectations.
