ByWard Market stabbing sends 2 to hospital

Two people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a stabbing outside a restaurant in the ByWard Market early Wednesday morning, according to Ottawa police.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m., in the middle of the street at the corner of York Street and ByWard Market Square.

Ottawa police say two men, one in his late 30s and one in his mid 40s, were stabbed.

The 24-year-old suspect was arrested on scene and later charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, violation of a probation order and carrying a dangerous weapon.

The accused was released with conditions, Ottawa police said.
