City council has voted to pay all of Mayor Naheed Nenshi's legal bills related to a defamation lawsuit. Calgary homebuilder Cal Wenzel filed the lawsuit against Nenshi for comments the mayor made during the 2013 election campaign. That case was settled out of court last December, and the amount of Nenshi's legal bill is still not known. The mayor says he's paid about $100,000 out of his own pocket toward the bill. Council has approved a motion allow the mayor to publicly raise money to pay back the city.

Weeks after an investigation into workplace harassment at the Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat two people are losing their jobs. CBC News revealed last fall several employees accused the theatre's manager of sexual and verbal harassment. An outside investigation found no evidence of criminal activity. Now, the manager at the centre of the allegations and the executive director of the City Centre Development Agency, which runs the Monarch, have had their jobs eliminated. City councillor and C.C.D.A. board member Bill Cocks says the timing of the restructuring is a coincidence.

A boutique head lice company says it can't keep up with demand. Trina Manca, a technician with Lice Squad, is making house calls all over southern and central Alberta. Last summer she was treating four clients a week, but lately, demand for her service is up and she's been responding to about four clients a day. Manca says lice are tricky to catch, and parents should clean clothing, sheets and pillows regularly because lice can live on fabrics for up to 48 hours.
