Weather

We have a great day in store today with sunshine and a high of 18 C expected (the normal high for this time of year is 14 C.) Wind will be coming out of the south at 20 km/h. Tomorrow looks even better with a high of 25 C in the forecast.

A man in Red Deer is among the many people still waiting to hear from family missing in Nepal. Michael Dawe's partner Beverly Williams was visiting co-ops that supply her small business with woolen goods. Dawe says while there, his partner decided to take a seven-day trek out of Katmandu to a national park. Two days into that trek, the earthquake struck. He has not heard from from her since. More than 1,900 people have been killed after Sunday's magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal.

The slump in oil prices is putting a damper on Calgary Stampede preparations. With only a few months to go before the Stampede, many oil and gas companies are scaling back or even canceling events, with one party planner reporting a 40 per cent drop in business.

Calgary city council reconvenes today — here's a look ahead at the day's agenda.
