Calista Flockhart Talks Reuniting with Her “Ally McBeal” Costars: 'I Love Them So Much'
During the cast's recent reunion, Flockhart, Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol and Gil Bellows broke out into one of the show's famous fantasy dance numbers before presenting at the 2023 Emmy Awards
Though many years have past since they've been on the air, Calista Flockhart says no time has passed between her and her Ally Mcbeal costars.
On Wednesday's episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the actress, 59, opened up about the cast's reunion at the 2023 Emmy Awards earlier this month. She told co-host Mark Consuelous that their onstage reconciliation was "really fun."
"I love them so much," she continued. "I haven’t seen them in a long time. You know the kind of people that you don’t see for a very long time but then when you see them you felt like you saw them yesterday? You pick up right where you [left off]."
When Consuelous gushed how "those are the best" moments, Flockhart agreed and said, "Those are the best, yeah."

Flockhart appeared on stage in a recreation of the show's bathroom set as the Ally McBeal theme song, "Searchin' My Soul" by Vonda Shepard, played. "I had to drink water; I have to take my Spanx off, I have to put my dress back on. Whoa. Girl, you look good," Flockhart told herself in the mirror, in character as the eponymous, powerful-on-the-outside, hot-mess-on-the-inside lawyer Ally McBeal.
Her costars Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol and Gil Bellows then emerged from the bathroom stalls, cueing up one of the show's famous fantasy dance numbers, led by Flockhart, as the group made their way to the center of Los Angeles' Peacock Theater's stage to present an award.
"I loved working with Peter, Gil and Greg, and I still do. The entire Ally McBeal cast was so talented, magical, and [so was] the show, created by the brilliant, 11-time Emmy winner David E. Kelly," Flockhart told the audience. "Groundbreaking, revolutionary, introducing us to a dancing baby and unisex bathrooms, Ally McBeal defied convention with humor and humanity."

Ally McBeal ran for five seasons on Fox from 1997 to 2002. Created by David E. Kelley of Big Little Lies and Doogie Howser, M.D. fame, the legal dramedy series followed the personal and professional life of Flockhart's titular character, who works at the Boston law firm Cage and Fish.
In 2022, reports surfaced that a sequel series to the late '90s show was in early development at ABC.
