Cardi B Just Wore the Most 2008 Bangs I've Seen Since... Well, 2008

Time travel is an as-yet-unproven concept, but Cardi B just turned the clock all the way back to 2008 with her latest look. Grab your studded belt, flat iron, and Converse, because we're taking a trip to the late '00s!

Cardi attended the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards in Beverly Hills wearing the most 2008-esque bangs I've seen since that era, pairing a thick, heavy side bang with a black blazer dress and tights. Her hair was styled pin straight and super shiny, hitting about mid-chest. But the bangs were definitely the centerpiece of the look, taking up a significant portion of hair real estate. Cardi's hair was parted at an angle, with the bangs brushed to one side, covering her most of her brows and grazing the tips of her lashes. Instead of late-2000s metallic eyeshadow and dramatic liner, Cardi kept it simple with a pair of fluttery, long false lashes and a deep red lip. Honestly, the side bang feels perfectly at home in 2024 when it looks this sleek and chic!

The side bang reigned supreme in the emo era, but it pops up on the red carpet more often than you'd expect. Billie Eilish wore a sideswept style with her black flicked-out bob at the 2023 Oscars, and Megan Thee Stallion wore two different takes on the side bang in early 2024. Kirsten Dunst put a twee twist on the look for an event, opting for a wispy side bang like one she wore all the way back in 2012, and Gabrielle Union brought back the “side bangs and beanie” look that was so beloved in that time period.
