Carrie Johnson has shared pictures of her, husband Boris and their children enjoying the beach while on holiday in Sardinia.

The snaps posted on Instagram show Mrs Johnson and the former Prime Minister enjoying a summer getaway with their three young children, Wilfred, age four, Romy, two, and eleven-month-old baby Frank.

She said in a post sharing the photos: “Beautiful Sardinia. Pasta, ice cream, beach. Repeat.”

It comes as Mr Johnson stepped up his interventions in the general election campaign as the Conservatives try to stop voters deserting them for Nigel Farage’s Reform.

The former Prime Minister was writing letters and making campaign videos for some candidates, including in the so-called “Red Wall” of seats he is credited with helping to win in 2019.

In one for Alice Hopkin, Tory candidate in Normanton & Hemsworth, West Yorkshire, he warns voters against giving Sir Keir Starmer a “super-majority”.

His intervention comes as polls pointed to voters deserting the Conservatives for Reform in significant numbers, which could cost Rishi Sunak’s party dozens of seats.

Mr Johnson said: “If you vote for Alice you will avoid handing Labour a majority, even perhaps a super-majority, to take this country backwards with higher taxes, more wokery, kowtowing to Brussels again and of course more illegal immigration.

“Don’t let Starmer get away with it.”

The Conservatives face a daunting task to win back votes ahead of July 4, with four opinion polls published in the past 24 hours all showing Labour holding its large lead.

One puts Nigel Farage’s Reform Party level with the Tories.

An average of all polls that were carried out wholly or partly during the seven days to June 18 puts Labour on 42%, 21 points ahead of the Conservatives on 21%, followed by Reform on 16%, the Lib Dems on 11% and the Greens on 6%.

The Lib Dems and Reform are up on the figures for the previous week, while Labour and the Tories are down, with the averages for the seven days to June 11 being Labour 43%, Conservatives 22%, Reform 14%, Lib Dems 10% and Greens 6%.
