Centre Daily Times awarded 6 honors in 2024 Professional Keystone Media Awards

The Centre Daily Times has been awarded six honors — including two top placements — in the annual Keystone Media Awards, which recognize outstanding journalism in Pennsylvania.

The CDT won for news, features and sports coverage in the 2024 awards, announced Tuesday by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association in Harrisburg. The accolades are based on work published during the prior year.

Here are the honors received by the CDT staff within its competitive division, reserved for multiday publications with circulation of 10,000 to 19,999:

First place, Sports Feature: Jon Sauber, “Drew Allar is ready to meet the moment for Penn State. This is his journey there”

First place, Sports Breaking News/Event Coverage: Jon Sauber, “Who is to blame for Penn State football’s loss vs. Ohio State? Look beyond QB Drew Allar”

Second place, Sports Breaking News/Event Coverage: Jon Sauber, “Penn State lost to Michigan when it mattered most — again. Fans let James Franklin hear it”

Second place, Lifestyle/Entertainment Beat: Keely Doll, North, South, Centre

Honorable mention, Investigative Reporting: Hope Perry, “Hundreds are flown out of Centre County for traumatic injuries. Can Mount Nittany change that?”

Honorable mention, News Beat Reporting: Bret Pallotto, courts & crime in Centre County

Awards will be presented in Harrisburg on Oct. 17 during the Keystone Media Awards Luncheon.
