1. When will Charlotte get a break from this extreme heat?
It’s hot, y’all.
Near record-setting temperatures have been recorded across the country this summer and Charlotte’s been no exception. But how long can we expect this extreme heat to last?
Kendrick Marshall shares some insight.
2. The new school year starts on Monday and CMS is still short more than 500 teachers
Believe it or not, a new school year is almost here, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is facing a teacher shortage.
In a media briefing on Wednesday, district officials said there are currently more than 500 teacher openings in CMS. That doesn’t include other positions with openings in transportation, custodial and school nutrition.

3. Convicted sex offender re-arrested in NC was working with young drivers on race team
The owner of a Rowan County racing team has been charged with sex offender registry violations, according to the county sheriff’s office.
Joel Richard Courage, the owner of E33 Motorsports in Mooresville, was convicted in 2008 for 11 sex crimes with a minor in Sacramento, California. The racing team specializes in training young drivers for NASCAR and international teams.
