A new chicken restaurant opens in Fort Mill soon. Here’s what you need to know

Chicken sandwich, tender and wing restaurant Slim Chickens plans a mid-week opening for its newest location in Fort Mill.

The coming restaurant will open March 22. The 415 Mercantile Place location is part of second phase development at Springfield Town Center. The Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center off Springfield Parkway has 50 Saussy Burbank homes and several commercial outparcels under construction.

Joining Slim Chickens in the new development are Oakcrest Preparatory Academy, ModWash car wash, Helen Adams Realty and New South Family Medicine.

Slim Chickens has about 160 sites nationwide. Fort Mill is one of 11 sites listed as coming soon. Slim Chickens has existing sites in Charlotte and Columbia.

The menu has fried chicken sandwiches, wraps and salad. There are chicken tenders, wings and chicken and waffles options. The restaurant has 17 house sauces plus family meals, kids meals and Southern sides. Desserts include milkshakes, brownies and either pudding or cheesecake creations in a glass jar.

The popularity of new restaurants, and chicken joints in particular, continues to grow in Fort Mill. Super Chix opened between Fort Mill and Tega Cay in 2021, and did well enough to announce another site in Indian Land. VooDoo Wing Co. recently opened near Baxter. There’s a Bojangles in development near Masons Bend.

Just this week, representatives from Bossy Beulah’s met with the town historic review board on a redevelopment plan at the former Coleman’s garage site downtown. There are several other new or coming chicken places in Rock Hill and surrounding areas.
