Chris Jones, Tyreek Hill started trash-talking months before Chiefs-Dolphins game

It’s at least five months before the Chiefs will play host to the Miami Dolphins at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, but the pregame fun has already started.

Earlier this week Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill joined former Chiefs teammates Anthony Sherman and Gehrig Dieter’s podcast for WHB (810 AM).

Hill was in a playful mood and noted he was gonna have to flash his signature peace sign at the Chiefs during the game.

“I hate to say it, man. I hate to throw up the peace sign against y’all,” Hill said with a laugh. “I hate to do it. Guess what? I’m gonna be your worst enemy that day. I’m gonna be your worst enemy that day. You better change the signals. I know every signal y’all got. ... I’m playing bro, I’m playing.”

The comments from Hill, who played for the Chiefs from 2016-21 before being traded last year to the Dolphins, caught the attention of defensive tackle Chris Jones. He responded and started a little trash-talking between the teammates.

It began when Jones repeated a phrase he used for a heckling opponent at Super Bowl LVII.

This was Hill’s response and Jones thought it was funny.

Jones said Hill wouldn’t throw up his peace sign during the game.

Hill responded by insinuating that Jones likes to eat.

Jones also thought that tweet was funny.

Judging by this smack talk, the week leading up to the Chiefs-Dolphins game is going to be a whole lot of fun.

This was just playful banter between former teammates. Hill had high praise for Jones on that WHB podcast, and noted Jones will be a free agent at the end of the 2023 season.

“I love Chris, man. Chris is definitely a locker room guy,” Hill said. “A very fun personality to be around like you said. And yeah, any team ... the Chiefs better sign him. I’m not going to say any team. The Chiefs better sign him back. That’s all I gotta say.”
