Claudia Flores Jimenez, Vaudreuil mom accused of killing daughter, fit to stand trial

Claudia Flores Jimenez is fit to stand trial for allegedly killing her seven-year-old daughter in their Vaudreuil, Que., family home, a judge has decided today.

Flores Jimenez has been charged with first-degree murder in the girl's death the night of Feb. 12.

She and her lawyer, Martin Pilotte, appeared in court on Friday to receive the results of her psychiatric evaluation at Montreal psychiatric hospital the Pinel Institute.

She was deemed mentally able to follow her trial and consult with her lawyer throughout.

Pilotte said he does not yet know how his client will plead.

Flores Jimenez is scheduled to appear in court again on March 23.
