Closing of 74-lane, 10-pin Windsor bowling alley is 'sad, sad, sad'

A Windsor bowling alley that claims to be the largest 10-pin establishment in the country is closing its doors.

The Bowlero is home to 74 lanes, but it won't be a home to bowlers anymore.

Nick Stein, a lifelong bowler and the tournament director of the Molson Masters Bowling Classic, has been bowling at the Bowlero for decades.

"Sad, sad, sad, I can't emphasize the sad [enough]," Stein told CBC News in a phone interview on Monday afternoon.

Stein, who bowled the only perfect game of his life at the Bowlero, said he is sad for the staff who work there, the bowling community and for the west end.

"It's another place that's gone," Stein said, noting that it's part of a larger trend of seeing businesses closing down in the west end.

Stein said that with the closing of the Bowlero, Windsor is down to just a handful of alleys.

Calls to REVS Bowling & Entertainment, the company that owns the Bowlero, were not answered on Monday.
