Cobra Kai has confirmed the release date for season six, with the show’s final instalment split into three parts.

It was confirmed last year that the Netflix series, a continuation of The Karate Kid film franchise, would return for a sixth and final season.

But now it has been announced that the show’s final outing will be split into three blocks of five episodes, with the first five episodes premiering on the streaming platform on July 18.

Meanwhile, part two will air at the end of this year, on November 28, while the final five episodes will hit Netflix in 2025 – with an exact release date yet to be revealed.

The exciting announcement of a "three-part event" and a bumper 15-episode season, compared to the ten episodes in every other season, came with a new teaser trailer for the series.

The short clip teases action and lots of fight scenes, alongside the tagline, "The end of a legacy deserves a grand finale."

The brief synopsis for season six reads: "Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai – the world championships of karate."

While production on the final season of Cobra Kai was delayed as a result of the writers’ and actors’ strikes in Hollywood last year, in December the show’s creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg revealed that it would be their "boldest" instalment yet.

Heald said: "We are in the writers’ room working feverishly and we have been since the WGA strike ended. We are thrilled that the SAG-AFTRA strike has also ended.

"We are going back into production after the new year on the biggest, boldest season we’ve done yet."

Alongside the returning cast, which includes lead actors William Zabka and Ralph Macchio, it was announced in November that Dexter star CS Lee will join the show, playing classic Karate Kid character Master Kim Sun-Young.

The first five episodes of Cobra Kai season six will air on Netflix on July 18, part two will premiere on July 18, and part three will air in 2025.
