Coronation Street has cast Ed and Ronnie Bailey's father.
The Sun reports that Ram John Holder has already started filming scenes as Sarge Bailey, and will appear on the cobbles in the months ahead.
It is also said to be a "substantial" guest role.
Holder is known for his portrayal of Augustus 'Porkpie' Grant in the sitcom Desmond's. He has made appearances in soaps including EastEnders and Casualty, and has also featured in Death in Paradise and The Story of Tracy Beaker.
Things have been busy for Ed and Ronnie lately, including the recent discovery of a corpse on the construction site.
Ed has also been seen struggling with the potential return of his gambling addiction.
Weatherfield will also see the return of Bethany Platt, with Lucy Fallon reprising the role. Her first scenes since 2020 are set to air after Christmas.
"I'm so excited," said co-star Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Barlow. "She's such a well-loved human, never mind character.
"Obviously the world love her as Bethany and so do we, but we also love her as Lucy and she is part of our little pretend family, so I can't wait to have her back."
O'Brien also suggested that Damon Hay may reappear in the future, hinting that there may be "unfinished business there".
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
