Coronation Street lines up proposal in Joel and Dee-Dee storyline

Coronation Street has confirmed that Joel Deering will propose to his girlfriend Dee-Dee Bailey in an upcoming episode.
In scenes airing on ITV next week, Joel informs Dee-Dee that he has booked a table at the bistro so she can meet his parents, Anthea and Gus, for the first time.
Meanwhile, Joel pays his client Nathan Curtis a visit so they can discuss his plea in the Lauren Bolton case, after one of the missing teen's hairs was found in Nathan's van.

Dee-Dee later admits to Joel that she's nervous about meeting his parents, though he tries to reassure her by saying that they'll love her once they get to know her, even if they can be a little stand-offish at first.
However, Dee-Dee's meeting with Anthea and Gus proves to be an uphill battle as they make their disapproval of her clear.
Things go from bad to worse when Anthea makes a patronising remark towards Dee-Dee's father Ed after she introduces them at the bistro, causing a furious Dee-Dee to storm out.

Later on, Joel calls in at the flat to apologise to Dee-Dee for his mum's behaviour, before leaving her stunned as he suddenly gets down on one knee to propose. Will Dee-Dee say yes?
Before Joel pops the question, some tension will arise in the couple's relationship in scenes airing this week after Dee-Dee discovers that Joel is representing Nathan. This puts them at odds as she is representing the other main suspect in the Lauren case, Roy Cropper.
Although Dee-Dee makes it clear that she's not happy with Joel, he continues to work alongside Nathan anyway.
