Coronation Street star pays tribute to Chris Gascoyne after leaving party

Coronation Street star Liam McCheyne has paid tribute to Chris Gascoyne ahead of his exit from the soap next month.
It was announced in July that Gascoyne, who has been playing Peter Barlow on the ITV soap for 23 years, will temporarily bow out of Corrie at the end of the year as he plans to take an extended break.
McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson, paid tribute to his co-star via Instagram yesterday (November 2) by posting sweet a photo of himself and Cait Fitton (Lauren Bolton) with Gascoyne at his leaving party.

"I'm gonna miss you, Chris," he captioned the post. "Chris always taught me to try things and experiment. That's the best way you learn. We all wish you the best for the future."
It was recently announced that Peter and Carla Barlow will take centre stage in a special episode due to air on Boxing Day, as their marriage looks set to be heading for heartbreak.
"It's building towards an exit for Peter, which is really brilliant and bittersweet and feels like Corrie at its very best," producer Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy and other press.

He continued: "We often think that Peter and Carla are the Burton and Taylor of the cobbles and we want it to have this highly emotional, very nuanced and realistic ending, which I think is what the writers have achieved.
"It's filming right now and I cannot wait to see the result. If it's even half as good as the script – and experience tells me it will be even better because the actors and the directors elevate the material – it's going to be a really stunning episode for us because they are brilliant in-love characters and brilliant actors."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
