Just before dropping the case, Aaron finally acknowledged his guilt after months of denial, but Amy was still picking up the pieces in Monday’s (June 19) episode.

After her parents attempted to cheer her up, Amy shared a tender moment with Summer, proclaiming that she wanted to start afresh and not let Aaron ruin her life any more.

She outlined her plans to continue with her university studies, but her plans were dashed as her tutor informed her that she needed to retake the entire year.

Amy subsequently considered dropping out of her studies altogether, but Summer motivated her by pointing out they would be starting the course together if she decided to give it another shot.

Amy and Summer went out for a drink to celebrate her decision, but the night took a turn for the worse as she witnessed a man drag his intoxicated wife up for a dance, giving her flashbacks of her horrific ordeal.

Feeling overcome with emotion, Amy confronted the husband and lambasted him for his behaviour before Summer intervened. Amy went outside to throw up, before returning home to her parents and heading upstairs to bed.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
