Creed, whose music has been a rallying cry for the Texas Rangers this postseason, stopped by Globe Life Field Wednesday to lead the stadium in song.

Fans erupted when the band was shown on the Globe Life Field’s Jumbotron during a rendition of their 1999 hit song “Higher” after the second inning of Game 3 of the American League Championship series between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros.

Creed is a rock group formed by Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti, Brian Brasher, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall. The band was started by Stapp and Tremonti, who had been high school classmates and friends at Florida State University.

The band’s music has been source of inspiration for the Rangers. The team used the band’s music to help them deal with the highs and lows of the second half of the season, Rangers pitcher Andrew Heaney told Rangers radio broadcaster Jared Sandler.

At a brief press conference shortly after the band’s performance Wednesday, lead singer Scott Stapp expressed his gratitude to the Rangers and their fans for embracing the music and giving the band an opportunity to reunite for the first time in 10 years.

“We were floored and excited that the music after all these years is still connecting with people,” Stapp said. “We’re grateful to be a part of this ride.”
