Death of man, 28, run over twice on city street

A man died after he was knocked down and then run over by a second vehicle.

The 28-year-old was crossing Water Street, Manchester, at about 02:30 BST on 5 July when he was hit by the first vehicle.

Police said a second vehicle hit the man while he was lying on the eastbound carriageway of the A57. Its driver stayed at the scene.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and death by careless driving.

Greater Manchester Police is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with the force.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
